General-rate references

The presets below are starting points, not a ruling on your invoice. FBR taxes on goods and provincial taxes on services cover different supplies. Special rates and exemptions may apply.

References checked 2026-09-13. For a different treatment or an older invoice, enter the percentage that applied to your supply on the invoice date. Entering 0% only performs the arithmetic; it does not establish an exemption or zero-rating entitlement.

How the calculation works

Add tax to a net price

Tax = net amount × rate ÷ 100. Total = net amount + tax.

At 18%, PKR 10,000 net becomes PKR 11,800 total, including PKR 1,800 tax.

Extract tax from a total

Net amount = total ÷ (1 + rate ÷ 100). Tax = total − net amount.

At 16%, a PKR 11,600 total contains PKR 10,000 net and PKR 1,600 tax. Subtracting 16% directly from the total gives the wrong net amount.

Common questions

Which authority should I choose?

Choose the authority relevant to the supply. The FBR preset here is for federal sales tax on goods. SRB, PRA and KPRA presets refer to provincial sales tax on services. Location alone may not settle jurisdiction, and these presets do not cover every special rate.

Does the preset prove that this is the right tax rate?

No. The presets are general-rate references. Reduced rates, exemptions, zero-rating, service categories and special notifications can change the treatment of a particular supply. Check the applicable official schedule or notification and enter that rate when needed.

How do I remove sales tax from a total?

Turn on Tax included in amount. The calculator divides the total by 1 plus the tax rate, then shows the net amount and the tax included. At 18%, PKR 11,800 contains PKR 10,000 net value and PKR 1,800 tax.

Does this include withholding tax or further tax?

No. It calculates one sales-tax percentage on one amount. It does not determine withholding, further tax, excise duty, customs duty, input-tax credits or the amount due on a tax return.

Can I combine items with different tax rates?

Calculate amounts with different rates separately. Do not average the rates and apply that average to the invoice total. This tool rounds each calculation to two decimal places; rounding each invoice line separately can produce a small difference from rounding one combined amount.

How does the discount switch work?

Choose % for a percentage discount or PKR for a fixed discount. The selected discount reduces the amount you entered. If tax is included, it reduces that inclusive amount before the net and tax are extracted. Switching units keeps the number you entered and recalculates it in the selected unit. A fixed discount cannot exceed the amount.

What is the maximum amount?

The entered amount is limited to PKR 999,999,999,000 (999.999999 billion). Larger amounts show an error and are not calculated. The total after adding tax may be higher than this input limit.

Are my amounts saved?

The calculation runs in your browser. The calculator does not send or save the amounts, rates or results. Copying a result puts it on your device clipboard.
